Frequently asked questions:
1. What is the difference between the Aero Blaze 4 GRVL and the Aero Glide 4 GRVL?
The Aero Blaze 4 GRVL is a lighter and more agile model for runners who want a versatile shoe for shorter to medium-distance runs and like to alternate between asphalt and gravel. The Aero Glide 4 GRVL offers more cushioning and comfort, making it ideal for longer gravel runs and volume runs.
2. What surface are the Aero Blaze 4 GRVL and Aero Glide 4 GRVL suitable for?
Both models are designed for running on a variety of surfaces – from asphalt to gravel to paved roads. The Gravel Contagrip® outsole provides reliable traction off-road while allowing for comfortable running on the road.
3. Are gravel models also suitable for asphalt?
Yes. Thanks to their versatile design, you don't have to change shoes when switching from gravel to asphalt. Both models handle asphalt, gravel and paved roads, making them ideal for routes where the surface changes during your run.
4. Which gravel model is better suited for longer runs?
If you're planning on longer gravel rides, we recommend the Aero Glide 4 GRVL. It offers a high layer of optiFOAM² cushioning and a very comfortable ride that you'll appreciate as you go. The Aero Blaze 4 GRVL is better suited if you prefer a lighter, more agile feel.
5. What traction do gravel models have?
Both models feature a Gravel Contagrip® outsole with 2.5mm lugs, designed for better traction on gravel and paved roads, while still maintaining enough versatility for running on asphalt.
6. Are the Aero Blaze 4 GRVL and Aero Glide 4 GRVL suitable for beginners?
Yes. Both models are suitable for beginner runners. The Aero Blaze 4 GRVL is a great choice if you're looking for a lighter, more versatile shoe, while the Aero Glide 4 GRVL offers more comfort and cushioning for longer or slower runs.
7. Which model should I choose if I mainly run off-road?
If you mainly run on gravel and paved roads, you can choose either model. The choice depends mainly on your preferences - the Aero Blaze 4 GRVL will offer a lighter and more agile performance, while the Aero Glide 4 GRVL focuses on maximum comfort and cushioning.
8. Are these shoes suitable for more challenging terrain?
Gravel models are designed primarily for gravel, paved roads, and other lighter terrain. If you plan to run on technical trails, roots, rocks, or in challenging mountain terrain, it is better to reach for classic trail shoes with more traction and greater foot protection.
9. How to choose the right size?
Both models follow the standard Salomon numbering. When choosing, keep in mind that your foot may swell slightly during longer runs. We therefore recommend leaving approximately 0.5-1 cm of space in front of your longest toe and checking that the heel is firmly in the shoe.
